The Big Share Fundraiser Guide


Many nonprofits can and will invite you directly to be a fundraiser for the Big Share, but for many you can sign up directly to show your support for the great work that they are doing and this guide will show you how to do that. The Big Share is designed to make it super simple for you to build support for the organizations and causes you care about. How do I become a Peer-to-Peer Fundraiser?

If you weren't invited to fundraise for an organization, you can still sign up! Just search for your organization, view their profile, and click the Fundraise button.

What link do I share?

You'll want to share the link created for your fundraising page found in your Fundraising Dashboard.

You can also share the organization's main campaign link, and your supporters will still be able to donate to your specific page!

How do I get the word out?

To get the word our about The Big Share, you'll want to communicate with your contacts through email messages, social media posts, and word of mouth. Check out some of the sample content below for ideas of what to post and when!

  • The Big Share® is Tuesday, March 3.
  • The Big Share® is an online day of giving hosted by Community Shares of Wisconsin to support the organization’s 82 member nonprofits.
  • The event has raised over $5 million since 2015.
  • This year’s theme is “Give Today to Build Tomorrow”.
  • With a minimum donation of $5, it is easy for individuals to get involved. It only takes a few minutes to donate.

What am I Responsible for?

  • As a Fundraiser, you're responsible for getting the word out about The Big Share, and encouraging support for your fundraiser and the organization that you are fundraising for!
  • The nonprofit leaders for the organization you are supporting will have a goal in place that they are hoping to reach during The Big Share and you can help them reach that goal. Within your peer-to-peer fundraising page, you can set an individual goal for your fundraiser to let your friends and family know what portion of your organization's goal you are hoping to help achieve.
  • Most importantly, you are responsible for having fun with your fundraising efforts and working to share enthusiasm and support for your organization and the causes and objectives you are helping to support. You can create a fun video, a challenge, send thank you messages, and more! Get creative with it! These small gestures can go a long way for your organization's fundraising efforts.
